Running SM Roofline, a small roofing business in Harlow, Essex, was a full-time job for the owner. From early morning until late at night, they juggled quotes, invoices, and emails, barely finding time to update their website or manage social media.

When I first started working with SM Roofline, my role was mainly to handle admin tasks.

But as I got to know the ins and outs of the business, I realised I could do much more to help them grow. By combining my admin expertise, content planning and management, and copywriting skills, I was able to streamline their operations and improve their online presence.

Website & Online Presence

I didn’t just update the website with SEO-friendly content to help them rank better in search engines. I also made sure every one of their services was clearly highlighted. I set up Instagram and TikTok profiles to expand their reach and added customer reviews to their website and social media, building trust with potential clients. To boost visibility locally, I set up a free Google Business Page, too.

Customer Management & Communication

Using my admin skills, I implemented a CRM system to keep track of customer info and streamline communication. I also introduced a follow-up system for quotes and customer queries, ensuring quick responses so no opportunities were missed. On the content side, I developed a quarterly newsletter, keeping customers updated on news and special offers, and built a simple quote request form so SM Roofline could submit a form while on the job, and I could type up the quote for them. Meaning no need for them to sit at the laptop that evening typing it up. I even set up reminders for past customers about maintenance services, helping them stay engaged.

Efficiency & Organisation

Organisation was key here. I created templates for quotes, invoices, and emails, saving time and reducing errors. I also tidied up their email inbox with easy-to-access folders and set up an online calendar that could be accessed from anywhere, making scheduling easier. With a budget planner to help manage finances and an online filing system for customer, finance, and marketing documents, their operations became much smoother.

Marketing & Content Creation

This is where my content planning and copywriting skills really came into play. I designed ads and flyers to promote their new services and added project photos to their website and social media, showcasing their work. To keep their content consistent and engaging, I created a content calendar for regular social media posts. I also added a blog to their website, sharing tips and news relevant to their audience.
